Pat grew up fishing with elders in a
time when there were still workboats
with sail.
Seeing the world from the sea, the
dawns, sunsets and starry skies
developed an awareness of light and
movement that is captured in his work.
Living on a island led to an instinct to search for available materials, to forage, to respond creatively to the environment and the resources at hand.
Pat has a deep interest in understanding Quantum Mechanics, and its effect on us as human beings.
His creative process begins wild and unplanned, but continues until there is a settled energy, safe and calm, balanced and pleasing.
Meet the Artist
Pat O’ Connor was born in Milstreet, Co. Cork and spent most of his formative years living on Sherkin Island and the Beara peninsula. He now lives and creates his work in Kinvara, Co Galway.
He was a Psychotherapist for over 30 years and is also trained in both Industrial Design and Fine Art.
His work involves painting, sculpture and writing and he has created three collections to date: Sail & Wind (Painting), Life in Stone (Sculpture) and Belonging (Painting).
